Over the next 20 months, 5G users worldwide will exceed 1 billion, expanding faster than 3G and 4G

 Kathmandu. A study has projected that by the end of 2022, more than 1 billion users worldwide will be connected via FiveG. The Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA) has just released the 'Mobile Economy Report 2022'.

According to the GSMA report, by the end of 2025, more than two billion users worldwide will be connected to FiveG. This means that by 2025, two out of five people in the world will be in FiveG.

FiveG, which is considered as a new technology of mobile internet, has come into operation in some countries of the world and is being tested in some countries. In Nepal too, Nepal Telecom has obtained permission for testing and has taken the necessary steps forward.



This technology, which has been adopted by the global telecommunications sector in a short period of time, is expected to bring a radical change in the telecommunications sector. According to GSMA, the technology is expanding much faster than 3G and 4G.

According to the study report, FiveG has managed to capture 5.5 percent market share of telecommunications services in the 18 months since it went public. At the time of 3G and 4G, it had reached only 2.2 percent in 18 months.

It is estimated to reach more than one billion by the end of 2022 and more than two billion by the end of 2025. Today, 70 countries of the world have started FiveG.

Where more than two hundred FiveG networks are live. In those countries, 68 mobile service providers are providing fixed wireless access (FWA) and 23 service providers are providing fiveG services based on stand-alone (SA) model. According to the report, the number of FiveG users will increase and the number of Forge users will continue to decrease.
